Brother LC51 Ink: Color Codes, Black 2-Packs, and Mixed-Pack Contents

Brother LC51 listings in our catalog include individual colors, a black 2-pack, and remanufactured mixed packs. The 4-pack and 10-pack have different black-to-color balances, while the black 2-pack carries different condition wording. Compare those details before choosing by pack size alone.

Match the complete color code

The returned individual-cartridge titles identify these LC51 labels:

  • Black: LC51BK.
  • Cyan: LC51C.
  • Magenta: LC51M.
  • Yellow: LC51Y.

Keep the suffix with the family number when comparing your existing cartridge and printer supply information with a product page. The shared LC51 label does not identify which color you need.

Black-only replacement: check the 2-pack

The LC51BK black 2-pack listing describes original Brother black cartridges labeled new or pre-owned. Its description notes that packaging conditions may vary.

This is a black-only package, not a black-and-color combination. If you need a color cartridge as well, review that requirement separately. Ask about the supplied condition if the selected listing leaves it unclear; an original-brand label does not establish that every unit is new in identical packaging.

What the remanufactured 4-pack includes

The LC51 remanufactured 4-pack states these contents in its product details: one black, one cyan, one magenta, and one yellow cartridge.

If you need replacements across those colors, compare the package with the corresponding individual listings. If you need only one color, do not assume the full assortment is necessary. Check current availability and product details before choosing.

How the 10-pack changes the quantities

The LC51 remanufactured 10-pack specifies four black, two cyan, two magenta, and two yellow cartridges. Its extra quantities are not distributed equally across black and each color.

Choose the mix that suits your replacement needs. A larger pack is not automatically better if it leaves you with quantities you do not want. Compare current price, contents, condition, and availability rather than cartridge count alone.

Keep family and condition checks separate

The mixed packs are labeled remanufactured, whereas the reviewed black 2-pack is labeled new or pre-owned original Brother. Do not apply one product's condition to every LC51 listing.

Our Brother LC61 pack guide covers a different family with similar package sizes. Shared colors or quantities do not establish compatibility between families. Follow the full cartridge labels required by your printer.

Verify the final selection

Record your full printer model and compare it with the selected product's compatibility information. See Where to Find Your Printer Model and Cartridge Number if you need help locating that information. If your model is not confirmed, ask before ordering.
